Frequently asked questions

What to know before your appointment

Clear answers about booking, the first visit, session length, fees, and our two clinics in Singapore.

Booking and referrals

Do I need a doctor’s referral?

In many situations you can book a physiotherapy assessment directly. A referral or medical instructions may still be needed for insurance, workplace claims, recent surgery, or particular medical conditions. Contact the clinic if you are unsure.

How do I book?

Use the booking page to choose Tanjong Pagar or East Coast, or ask the clinic by phone, WhatsApp, or email at info@physioclinic.sg. Where availability allows, you can also request a particular practitioner.

Are walk-ins accepted?

No. Both clinics operate strictly by appointment only.

Can I choose my physiotherapist?

Where booking availability allows, you may select a practitioner. If you are unsure, tell the clinic your preferred location and what you need help with so the team can guide you.

Your first appointment

What happens at the first appointment?

The physiotherapist will discuss your symptoms, health history, daily demands, and goals, then assess relevant movement and function. They will explain the findings and discuss a plan. Treatment may begin at the first appointment when appropriate.

How long is an appointment?

The first physiotherapy session is typically 45 minutes, so there is time for assessment, explanation, and a first plan. Follow-up sessions are usually 30 minutes. If several areas need attention, a longer session can be discussed beforehand.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows movement and access to the area being assessed. Bring shorts or exercise wear if that makes the assessment easier.

What should I bring?

Bring any doctor’s referral, previous physiotherapy or medical reports, and imaging such as X-ray or MRI results if you have them. After surgery, also bring the protocol or discharge instructions. Do not send sensitive documents through an unsecured general enquiry form.

Treatment and recovery

What is involved in a session?

The first visit focuses on understanding your history and assessing movement, strength, and the demands of daily life. Follow-up visits review progress and adjust the plan. Care may include hands-on treatment, guided exercise, education, and advice you can use between appointments. The mix depends on your presentation, not a fixed protocol.

Will the session include massage or machines?

Treatment depends on your assessment. It may include hands-on techniques, guided exercise, education, movement retraining, and self-management. No single technique is appropriate for everyone.

Will physiotherapy be painful?

Assessment and rehabilitation can sometimes reproduce or temporarily increase symptoms. Your physiotherapist should explain what is being done, seek consent, and adapt the plan based on your response. Tell them if you are uncomfortable or concerned.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies with the condition, your goals, your health, how you respond to care, and what you are able to do between appointments. Your physiotherapist will recommend and review a plan after the initial assessment.

Do you guarantee results?

No. No ethical healthcare provider can guarantee a particular outcome or recovery time. The team will discuss realistic goals, how progress will be reviewed, and other care options if physiotherapy is not suitable or progress is not as expected.

Can I exercise between appointments?

Your physiotherapist may provide a home plan and guidance on other activity. Follow the advice for your presentation rather than copying exercises intended for someone else.

Post-surgery care

When should I begin physiotherapy after surgery?

Follow your surgeon’s instructions. Timing varies by procedure. Bring your protocol or discharge information so rehabilitation can respect the required precautions.

Can you communicate with my surgeon?

With your consent and where appropriate, the clinic may clarify or share relevant information so rehabilitation stays aligned with surgical advice.

Fees, insurance, and claims

Published physiotherapy and therapy fees are listed here as currently published by the clinic. Programme assessment fees are separate.

What are your physiotherapy session fees?

Published fees before GST are: First / Re-Assessment Session: S$180 (45 minutes) Subsequent Session: S$150 to S$180 (30 to 45 minutes) Lymphatic Therapy: S$120 (30 minutes) Lymphatic Therapy: S$180 (1 hour) Shockwave Therapy: S$250 Accepted payment methods: cash, NETS, Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX. Senior / Principal therapist request surcharge: additional S$30 to S$60. Re-assessment may be required after a gap of more than 3 months, as your condition may have changed.

Is a programme assessment the same fee?

The heal360 programmes begin with a separate 45-minute initial assessment at S$180 before GST. That assessment is not the fee for all later programme sessions. If your needs overlap across programmes, one assessment can consider them together without a second assessment charge.

Can I claim through insurance or a workplace scheme?

Coverage and paperwork requirements differ. Check with your insurer or employer before booking. You may need a referral letter from your doctor, GP, or specialist. Fees are usually paid first, then claimed from your insurer using the clinic receipt. The clinic cannot promise that a claim will be accepted.

I do not have insurance. Can I still come?

Yes. Many people pay for physiotherapy privately. The clinic can explain the current session fee and what the first appointment includes so you can decide whether it is a useful next step for you.

What if I need to cancel or I arrive late?

Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment. For cancellation or postponement, provide at least 24 hours' notice by call or SMS. Repeated late cancellations or no-shows may be charged at the full session fee. If you arrive late, the full session fee may still apply and the session will not be extended beyond the scheduled time.

Locations and hours

Appointments are available Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm, and Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Both clinics are closed on Sunday and Public Holidays, and are strictly by appointment only.

Safety

When should I seek urgent medical care instead of booking physiotherapy?

Choose a location, or ask a question first

Book at Tanjong Pagar or East Coast, or ask the clinic which appointment is the most appropriate next step.
