Neck pain or stiffness can make it difficult to work, drive, sleep, exercise, or concentrate. Physiotherapy begins by understanding how your symptoms and daily demands fit together.

What are you noticing?
People come with stiffness after desk work, headaches that seem linked to the neck, or symptoms after an old injury. These situations are common starting points, not diagnoses.

See head pain and headachesRecurring symptoms after a previous injury, or recovery after a neck or spinal procedure.
See post-surgery rehabilitationNeck pain can involve different contributing factors. The symptoms you feel do not always identify one particular cause.
That is why we start with assessment rather than a generic stretching list. Your physiotherapist considers how the symptoms began, what aggravates or eases them, and the sitting, driving, sleep, and work demands that matter to you.
How physiotherapy may help
Your goal might be sitting through a working day more comfortably, turning to check traffic, sleeping without a stiff neck, or concentrating without a dull ache. The plan is shaped around those tasks, not one “correct” posture.
The goal is not one perfect posture
Posture may be one factor, but neck pain is rarely explained by a single position alone.
Work duration, movement variety, stress, sleep, strength, workload, and other health factors may also matter. The plan aims to support the tasks you need to do, not to enforce one “correct” sitting shape.
A physiotherapist will assess you, explain what they find, and shape a plan around the sitting, driving, sleep, or work demands your neck pain is interrupting.

Not necessarily. The appropriate modification depends on the movement, load, symptoms, and your assessment. A physiotherapist can help you adapt activity and progress it when appropriate.
These symptoms should be assessed carefully. Some people describe this pattern as a pinched nerve. Depending on the findings, physiotherapy, medical review, or coordinated care may be recommended.
